Online Hopes for MSNBC

Doctor Who Viewing

Doctor Who's "Day of the Doctor" set a global simulcast record, as it reached 94 countries, but it wasn't the highest-rated program on British TV Saturday night. Doctor Who did well in theaters too after a strong weekend.

The episode also set a record for BBC America, which also helped to launch Atlantis, and Liz Shannon Miller traces out how multi-platform buildup helped to do it.

Family Guy Character

Family Guy killed off a character last night, and some fans are very unhappy, while others are questioning if he's really gone. A new website might indicate that he's not really gone, but Fox says it's a hoax site. James Poniewozik discusses the special difficulty of dealing with a sitcom characters' death. This may have been done for ratings, but either way, Kevin Wong thinks it's a mistake.

Final Four Customizing

John Ourand reports on a new programming strategy for the 2014 Final Four: "In an unprecedented move, Turner Sports and CBS will produce three different telecasts for each of the two national semifinal games, each with its own set of announcers.
