Nimble TV

Brian Stelter discusses a new streaming service called NimbleTV: "The service takes the package of television channels that a customer buys through a distributor like Dish Network, then streams the package onto the Web, allowing the customer more options for viewing than most distributors now allow. It also allows for thousands of hours of TV recording via a virtual digital video recorder." Ryan Kim also covers NimbleTV.

  1. It sounds like a cool service but I find it strange that they would specifically mention Dish when NimbleTV sounds like close competition for Sling technology. Working for Dish I have seen that they embrace new technology, they could work something out with NimbleTV, I just don’t know why they would. I have a Sling Adapter connected to my Hopper DVR. I see Slings advantage over NimbleTV being the cloud. I have all of my content available to me through my DVR and internet connection. I trust my home internet service a lot more then I trust a cloud. What happens to my service and “cloud DVR” content when their data center goes down?
