Couric Leaving

The AP reports that Katie Couric is leaving the CBS Evening News this spring. Aaron Barnhart questions if who replaces her even matters given the state of network news. James Poniewozik has some similar thoughts, and David Bauder wonders about ratings too. And now here's Slate asking if news anchors matter anymore. But NBC News is trying to convince advertisers there's still valuable life in the evening news. Andrew Goldman has a recent interview with Couric, in which she appears to blame local news lead-ins for her ratings problems.

Update: WSJ also reports Couric is likely to leave for a talk show.
